WEEKDAYS
'Routine' for us is 'stat' everywhere else. Light Microscopy, Immunofluorescence, and Electron Microscopy are completed the day the biopsy is received, and are followed by an immediate personal phone call and faxed report. Images are made immediately available on the web, and a photo montage is mailed same day.
WEEKENDS
Light Microscopy and Immunofluorescence can be completed outside of normal business hours. Transplant and ARF cases are read on Saturday, as well as any other case that demands an immediate result. Sunday service is available under special conditions.
BIOPSY SUBMISSION
Submitting a biopsy to us is easy. We provide kits to nephrologists to keep "on hand" in their office or hospital laboratory.
- The kit consists of:
- Fixatives/bottles to transport tissue sample
- Necessary paperwork (e.g., patient info sheet, renal bx protocol, clinical history form)
- Pre-paid, pre-addressed FedEx mailers
- Sample is placed in the FedEx mailer provided and sent overnight to Little Rock. It is received in our lab before 8:00 a.m. Central.
- Tissue is processed and read by our renal pathologists, who call the nephrologist with the result around 2:00 p.m. Central. Final report, including Electron Microscopy, is faxed to nephrologist the same afternoon and images are available on our website.
Physicians can access results through a secure area of our website. To see a sample of this service, click LOGIN and select the "Guest" option.
