| Dr. Alexis Harris graduated
from the East Carolina University School of Medicine in 1991.
She completed a pathology residency at East Carolina University
in 1996 and became board certified in Anatomic Pathology.
From August 1996- December 1997, she received fellowship training
in renal pathology under the tutelage of Charles Jennette,
MD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where
she remained as one of the renal pathologists from 1998- 2000.
From July 2000- December 2006, Dr. Harris (promoted as an
Associate Professor in 2006) served as the renal pathologist
at the University of New Mexico and as the sole renal pathologist
for the state of New Mexico. Joining our group in January
2007, she is the newest member of the Nephropathology Associates.
Dr. Harris has received numerous teaching awards
from students and peers during her academic career. In addition
to teaching students, she has participated at the annual American
Society of Nephrology meeting, serving as a teacher of renal
pathology and a moderator. Dr. Harris is a member of the American
Society of Clinical Pathology (1991), the College of American
Pathologists (1991), the United States and Canadian Academy
of Pathology (1991), the Renal Pathology Society (1996), the
American and the International Society of Nephrology (1996).
She received board certification by the American Board of
Pathology (Anatomic only) in 1999.
